Hello there! I’m Susanne.
I’m a music geek, and have tried several instruments over the years, but in recent years mainly mandolin, guitar (basic strumming) and concertina. My genres range from different folk and trad styles to country, bluegrass and ragtime.
During the pandemic I started learning bluegrass guitar, and finally I’ve “come home” with my musicianship. The guitar, along with the concertina, will remain my main instrument.
On this blog I want to share my experiences, talk about tunes and songs, and about musicians that inspire me.
I’m no expert, just a happy amateur who enjoys music to the fullest – but honestly, aren’t there enough experts in the blogging world? It’s about time someone just shares the experience. There are lots of learners of instruments out there, and they need to know they are not alone.
I’m Swedish but moved to Ireland in 2019 to enjoy shorter and milder winters, and to live where I feel most at home.
We lived here in 2008, and since then West Cork has continued to be like home. There’s something special about the people, the attitude towards life, and the community here. During the last 4-5 years that we lived in Sweden, we always felt that we wanted to come back to West Cork, and during a holiday in 2017, we decided to make Ireland our full time home again.
We now live in the countryside on a peninsula, surrounded by green fields, cows, and the sea – and I love it.
I study graphic design and Adobe CC, create photos, and work on becoming as fluent as possible in Italian. My goal is to create a new career that is location-independent, either using language skills or design skills – or both.
Music will remain a hobby, but it is the best hobby!
